Episode 129 – Mad Monkeys

This week, Mike’s had all sorts of new opportunities for tabletop gaming, with more exciting stuff coming up. He talks all about it in the Gaming Table segment. Then, on Fingertips, he cleans out a handful of old topics, including miscellaneous game talk, monkey greeting cards, Mike’s idea for an undead hand swarm, the movie magic of the summer of ‘82, plus cybersecurity and other nerd talk. Then R2 dishes listener-submitted questions on the Pod-O-Matic: seawater salinity, Zambonis, The Black Tapes podcast, Anthony Jeselnik, and discovering old music. Episode 128 – Yankee Doodle Dandy

In this episode, Mike talks about his busy, busy week: a Reel Big Fish concert, playing Pathfinder, a Scout lock-in with his son, and his other son’s date where they went to church and Deadpool – two great activities that go great together. Also, funny stuff from the Nerd Pride forums, and the origin of Dude. On the Pod-O-Matic, R2 serves up four new listener-submitted questions covering horror anthology movies, the color of Nerd Pride and more. And of course he ends with Listener Betrayal where he reads all the comments he’s garnered while recording this episode. A wonderful end to a wild and crazy week. Episode 127 – Fall Preview Issue

In this episode, Mike opens with some lengthy feedback on the matter of Chewie-Leia hugging. Then he steps into the Science Corner to talk about pollster Ann Selzer and the fuzzy nature of some polling processes, with an extended detour into his own experiences with the Fantasy Movie League. In the Pod People segment, Mike reaffirms his love for Getting On with James Urbaniak, but also discusses a new (to him) podcast called TV Guidance Counselor. And then since it’s Deadpool week, Mike has a Nerd Rage about people who want a kid-friendly Deadpool. R2 shows up for some Pod-O-Matic, and delivers three listener-submitted questions this week about Mike’s ultimate gaming room, regional accents and code-switching, and why Mercury is called Mercury even though it’s not made of mercury. Listener Betrayal caps off the episode, and among other stuff, Mike gives a recap of the Valentine weekend… which DIDN’T include a screening of Deadpool, but was otherwise pretty perfect.
