Re: All things COVID-19

Fundamental, murderous objection to intentionally bad data. Stalin level dishonesty. Having said that, here's my difficulty: people think it's like the rats in the grain - spontaneously generating - that they have no agency about transmission or prevention. I know people who behave as if it's like p...

Re: Rate this food!

Begin with the baseline: I will eat (have eaten) most things except liver. Not fussy, but I'll be happy to play raisins...portable grapes not amazing for flavor, but a little natural sugar and fiber, not tremendous flavor, but refreshing and sustaining added to something, especially as a surprise ca...

Re: Relationships in Quarantine

China reported a spike in divorce filings. All but three of my hundred or so students are tired of this game and want to go back to campus. They're getting on their parents' nerves and ... Virtually all of the people I'm in touch with have adjusted their living capacities, by which I mean, folks in ...

Alignment

Whenever I answer a detect alignment, for as long as I can recall, I've offered Church of England or Law Enforcement as my typical answers for CE and LE. Am I the only DM that does this? I don't recall ever being clever enough to have invented it. Does anyone know what source I might have received t...

Re: Post-Glitterpuss Plans

So we have ten questions and I only managed to waste one, not bad Are there groups who want to ally? There are groups who would want to use us for their own purposes. ......wouldn't want to be in a bad spot and have a group take advantage of our vulnerabilities because suddenly we're not useful to t...

Re: Post-Glitterpuss Plans

That's excellent, and I didn't even consider the occluding field, whatever that is...I now recall it being mentioned, but whew.. So that for #10 The path question is going to get basically a one word answer from the pen. Hal tried to train it to draw, but it likes words. I have rafts of short answer...

Maus you probably know American Born Chinese I like the old Dark Knight where Bruce is gray and sort of fading There's a nifty webcomic called Stand Still, Stay Silent...about a post bio-apocaplypse https://www.sssscomic.com/ And the OG graphic novels, which I got for a dollar each fro...

Re: Post-Glitterpuss Plans

Questions: Since Hal has been wrestling with the potential and limitations of this artifact, I thought it appropriate to note some of the precautions/context with which he has come to view it. Before each session, deep, focused prayer to Iomedae, asking for guidance of course, but also asking for in...

Re: Post-Glitterpuss Plans

Something re-occurred to me this afternoon, and I had to check the dialogue to make sure...All this rune stuff...Does it refer to actual markings? We know the earlier sihedron sacrifices were all marked, and that the markings had something do with whether their deaths fueled the pools we encountered...

Re: Post-Glitterpuss Plans

Preliminary thoughts: There are more archer bird demons, there are more giants, there are more glassy giants, there are more yetis.....and we haven't seen any spiders or other things that we've been warned about yet. As far as talking or co-opting these apparently disparate and potentially disgruntl...

Re: Post-Glitterpuss Plans

Some marvelous scouting by Eldthor, Illian and Kay....Followed a clearly coerced work party of giants from the camp into the city...task/purpose as yet unknown...(My speculation: renovation and reclamation in preparation for Karzoug's return.) It seemed a little ad hoc. No revelatory undersea missil...

Re: Post-Glitterpuss Plans

I like where this is going in terms of specifics...Yetis are the next waypoint, but between here and there we get some intel and other stuff fleshed out. Can I add one task to our list, and it might be accomplished with Morgiv's help: I'd like to keep an eye on the giant camp we have already passed....

Re: Amazon LOTR Prequel...

Bezos has been demanding his own GOT. I was saddened that he got it, but it is what it is. The Silmarillion would be my choice for a series too, but It will take a genius not to make an unholy GOT of it. (Full disclosure, didn't care for virtually any complete element of GOT. everything seemed taint...

Re: Post-Glitterpuss Plans

What about as a group semi-hiatus taking a recon pause? Yes, the more scouty stealthy segment of us could do the actual no impact recon, and decide how evil is too evil to live, and which might be bargained with . The crafty segment could spend a few days working on stuff, which we're always behind ...

Re: Post-Glitterpuss Plans

Location, Location, location...let's see that rough guide. I cannot imagine there are helpful creatures left, given that the population of former slaves, and some low level giant/ogres were our best bets so far. There may be some value to be had from posing as Karzoug's minions on a mission, but Sam...

Re: Xin Shalast Discussion

Mammoth seems great to me, and we'll find his little chthonic vampire nest and stab him regularly until Hal or Sam can cast a sunlight or bless or some holy thing spell in the morning if necessary. We may have to re-slaughter his minions several times as well, but I think mammoth trampling is pretty...

Re: Democrats

At this point, there are still several maelstrom forces to overcome. There needs to be a moment at the convention where all of them appear together on the stage and promise to deliver their fans in November. Meanwhile, there will be apoplectic efforts to subvert, delegitimize and head off any possib...

Re: Xin Shalast Discussion

Contemplating this surreal situation in which we find ourselves, wandering deliberately into a giants' encampment, wandering deliberately into a plane which was a capital of a dead empire, in genera, way off the map in terms of us being the outsiders, the invaders....It creates a new conception of b...
