Re: TV Review Thread

I watched the first season of Rain, but never went back. I'm settling in with Dark next, as I've heard a few good comments from friends.

Re: What are you watching?

Another Life is garbage sci-fi that gives up all pretense of even trying. The budget is clearly a problem, and the writing is bad enough that I don't think I'll be able to power through. You could sit there with a "Bullshit Sci-Fi Bingo" card, and you'd have filled the thing by midway thro...

Re: What are you watching?

Just finished rewatching the entire run of Narcos, and started up on Another Life. Narcos, as good as it always was. Excellent casting, and a good showrunner (from a person whose producer credits are generally filled with awful projects) keep this "very loosely based on reality" docudrama ...

Re: Movie Hot Takes

Agreed, on both. But I'm pretty sure a novelization "fucking hell" take thread is going to go nowhere fast. To make it more directly related, the timeframe is backed up by the dates used in the film (and Marion's own dialogue). It's implied directly in the film, but not stated outright. Th...

Re: Movie Hot Takes

Indiana Jones was a fucking creepy pedo. From wiki: "Marion entered into a relationship with Indiana Jones during this time (when she was 15, according to the novelization of Raiders of the Lost Ark). Jones abruptly left the Ravenwoods in 1926; Marion was about 16 or 17 years old when the relat...

Re: Live TV

None, because I don't own a television.

Edit: At home, that is. Obviously, being at somebody else's place will change that.

Re: This Happened

Today, three entirely unrelated couples that I know wrote about walking out of a viewing of Once Upon A Time in Hollywood. It's not meant as a statement on the movie or its quality, but I'll continue to take a great deal of joy in it. Stay the fuck away from Star Trek, you overrated fucking hack tha...

Re: Movie Review Thread

Got a chance to see Far from Home recently. It was a blast, continued with Holland's lovely performance as Peter Spidey, and also remembered that it helps a great deal when Spidey flicks are actually fun. Into the Spider-Verse was amazing, as well, and deserves all of the movies, more movies, and to...

Re: Pizza cutter - yes or no

It's like one of the Joneses is not related to THE JONES, and completely gets me forever and ever.

(Seriously, knives always worked fine for me. I'm sure there's a pizza cutter in the house, but I don't think I've ever owned one.)

Re: What are you watching?

Gave up on Orphan Black in season 2. Acting's still great, but the writing got worse, and pretty much nothing hangs together anymore. The Boys was fun, but if anybody's looking for the comics to be on screen, they'll be pretty disappointed. I think that's good, because the comics are pretty insane a...

Re: Pizza cutter - yes or no

I don't understand the question. Pizza is already pre-cut (unless you're one of those horrible heathens making your own, and if so, then get your man-bun behind me, Satan). You just tear it with your hands. If you get extra cheese or toppings or whatever, well, that's the way it goes. It's like the ...

Re: What are you watching?

Orphan Black.

And oh how I'm not really understanding the appeal of this show. I liked it a lot better when it was called Sense8, and they actually took advantage of what the premise offered, rather than decided to waste it all in an array of fuckwitted writing.

Core actor's great in it though.

Today's menu has a lovely special. It's a red velvet cake with extra cream cheese icing, mostly made up of hope, broken dreams, and Texan tears.

Re: Hauze Has a Secret

There's a premium charge for Hauze. Also, extra fancy or extra catsup of the fancy variety? Because we don't do extra fancy. We're not some kind of food truck, here.

It ranged from this spit-covered plate right to your mouth. One extra order of Pixie paper with catsup added.

We don't cotton much to Wolverine tea, bub. One Paradise Punch Monster/root beer slushy coming right up. We put ketchup in it for you.

One bowl of chicken nuggets, coming right up. The only thing we have for dipping sauce for a customer like you is sliced up pixie sticks, with the paper still in the mix.

Re: Hauze Has a Secret

Yes, but it is subject to the 2,000,000,000,000,000 % mark-up fee for being THE JONES. Also, we're out of parsley, because we didn't order it. We didn't order it, because parsley is stupid, exists only to feed to rabbits, and fuck parsley. We substituted ketchup. There's an additional fee of $40,000...

Re: [SPOILERS] Endgame

The "is Thor still worthy" arc is (and could have been on screen) entirely independent of the jokes. The jokes were pretty bad, and were just ho-hum punch down humor. Fat Thor wasn't the problem, but I can definitely see how his friends for the last decade being kind of dickholes to him al...
