Race in RPGs

Saw an interesting challenge online today, credit to GabeJamesGames on Twitter: Whenever referring to fantasy "races", say "origin" instead. "What origin are they?" "Oh, they're elven origin!" "It looks like they might be of half orcish origin." &quo...

Re: What are you watching?

We started watching Long Way Up on Apple TV, about Ewan McGregor and a friend of his riding electric motorcycles from the tip of South America all the way up to Los Angeles. And that got us to watch their show from 2004, Long Way Around, about their motorcycle trip from London to New York by driving...

I know this pain (I know this pain)
Why do you lock yourself up in these chains? (these chains)
No one can change your life except for you
Don't ever let anyone step all over you
Just open your heart and your mind (mmm)
Is it really fair to feel this way inside? (whoa)

Re: Trump

The tax return story in the NY Times is interesting, in that it laid bare what was pretty much accepted: Trump isn't a billionaire, he's a conman living on credit. When things crash down and he has to pay $420 million dollars, while having less than $1 million in securities that could be liquidated ...

She's a good girl, loves her mama
Loves Jesus and America too
She's a good girl, crazy 'bout Elvis
Loves horses and her boyfriend too
It's a long day livin' in Reseda
There's a freeway runnin' through the yard
And I'm a bad boy, 'cause I don't even miss her
I'm a bad boy for breakin' her heart

Re: Dream Journal

Had a really weird one the other night. I was at an elementary school, for some reason I want to say it was a Catholic school, and I had to use the copier, which was outside in a grassy field. It looked like some of the wild grass was growing into the copier and I didn’t want it to jam, so I opened ...

There also needs to be a rethinking of how nuclear codes are handled. Rather than that being the exclusive purview of the president, that should be handled by a congressional committee of some sort.

Words like violence
Break the silence
Come crashing in
Into my little world
Painful to me
Pierce right through me
Can't you understand
Oh my little girl

Our youngest is a junior in high school, so we're past the wearing-costumes-and-getting-candy phase. And this year, we're not planning on handing out any candy. So our Halloween this year will involve turning off all lights and closing all the blinds and watching a movie of some sort. Our son may en...

She calls out to the man on the street
"Sir, can you help me?
It's cold and I've nowhere to sleep,
Is there somewhere you can tell me?"
He walks on, doesn't look back
He pretends he can't hear her
Starts to whistle as he crosses the street
Seems embarrassed to be there

Skipped my plyometric workout this morning, in order to give my foot a break, and instead spent an hour on the stationary bike. I should be able to keep up with most of my other P90X workouts.

It was a rainy night when he came into sight, standing by the road, no umbrella, no coat. So I pulled up alongside and I offered him a ride. He accepted with a smile, so we drove for a while. I didn't ask him his name, this lonely boy in the rain. Fate, tell me it's right, is this love at first sigh...

Saw the doctor this morning, and they took an X-ray. The first bone of the toe, the bone that's up in the foot, is fractured. It's showing early signs of healing, and there's not much else to really do for it. So I need to wear shoes with good support. When I run, I can tape it to the toe next to it...

Re: NPR Fitness Group

Started working out again this morning. The strength training workout went fine. Then I ran 4 miles at a slow (for me) 6.5 mph pace. I got the pace up to 7 mph, but the toes started hurting a little too much after maintaining that pace for about 1.5 miles, so I backed it back down to 6.5 mph. The to...
