Re: All Time Top 10 Movies

My list, maybe a work in progress, maybe not but definitely in no particular order: - The Hobbit Trilogy - Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Parts I and II (actually, let's put all of them together now that I think about it) - The Godfather Part 3 - The whole Harry Potter thing (and also the recent one t...

Re: There must be more than this provincial life

It's the classic "I Wish" song, it's an important building block for story / musicals. (In non-musical stories, there's often the same sentiment, just not in song form) I've learned about this through musical improv training. But there was also a This American Life episode that discussed i...

I finally had to do some geometry research. I'm on 8.2. Somewhere around where you are I had to do my first research too, then I was proud that I got along for a while again after that. Then I had to do research to solve another one. Now I'm at a point where I have had to do research to solve the l...

Re: Strategy Games

Twilight Struggle is a pretty darn good strategy game, but it suffers from the fact that it's fairly complicated and takes a while to learn the rules. It's two-player only, which can be nice, or not depending on your situation. My wife and I play it from time to time. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T...

Re: HeroBattle! XI: StarWarsBattle!

Technically, the actual name of the character you refer to as "Yak Face" is actually Saelt-Marae. The character's first appearance, of course, was on Jabba's barge above the Sarlacc pit in Star Wars: Episode VI The Return of the Jedi . However, Saelt-Marae was first named in Star Wars Tri...

Re: Universal income

Mired in some of the 70s conceptual framework he was working in, but here is something from Robert Anton Wilson on the subject:

Re: Universal income

Robert Anton Wilson took this idea a step further and had a suggested model where if you can eliminate jobs, you get more money. That is, if you can automate some process and eliminate worker bees, you'll get a raise in your annual income I'll try to find some article or something to better reflect ...

Re: Die Hard Play by Post Game

Does anyone have any clue what Nakatomi allegedly does (or what industries it works in) in the film? I can't find anything online, which makes me think there's probably no information about it in the film. The Die Hard wiki I found doesn't seem to have any such information. If there's no indication ...

Thanks Mike for organizing and running this, I had a a lot of fun. I definitely feel more comfortable with Paranoia now and have a much better feel for how I'd approach things next time, and I'd be more confident about my choices, etc. etc. That said, I really enjoyed it. I never lost a clone! That'...

Re: Restaurant Delivery Ethics

For what it's worth, I witnessed all this happening, and it was as Kyle described it. He called them and insisted he pay. Though I only heard one end of the conversation, it doesn't seem like they put up any sort of fight. That said, there is one thing he 'lied' about (though maybe he just doesn't k...
