Re: 3D Printed Guns

So speaking out of my ass at the moment, my understanding is that the 3D printed guns were a panic early on, but the lack of practicality of the product made it not a realistic concern. the new fears are accompanying it are down to improved materials and end-product that bring it into the realm of l...

Re: Episode 237 - Buried Survivors

AaAAnnnnd I'm back!! Daymn this heat is killing us! For Noah, I'm not familiar with that song about Australian Burger King, but the song-writers aren't that familiar with it either. In Australia, the company decided on the name "Hungry Jacks" - the logo, most of the menu and whatnot is the...

Re: Episode 236 - Give it a Title

Hey, Just listening. Congrats on the vacay, glad you enjoyed it. I just have to chime in tho. As an Aussie Ex-pat living in Canada, soooo much to add. Aussie Burgers. The idea that an Australian Style burger lacks lettuce would be abhorent to most Aussie truck-stops, They are packed and stacked. The...

Re: Planet Bob

The thought I had, was that the Dyson sphere was created in a Sol like system, the remains of the inner orbits have been mind into oblivion, they would be inside the sphere, or would have been. Later orbits included two gas giants (much like satern and jupiter) that were either deliberately or incid...

Re: Planet Bob

Really? huh, I wouldn't have expected that .... Well - some tech-babble can explain that, and give me some really cool options when the tech fails :D Real physics is great, but I want it to support the story not break it :D Say, what do you think of my 40 degrees either side of the equator to get to...

Re: Planet Bob

Hey, I'm all for putting a bit of real physics behind it where appropriate. The thing that puzzles me - not all the mass of the dyson sphere is nearly close enough to provide gravitational pull, and the shell of the dyson sphere would provide a bit more gravity to the inside surface than the star wo...

Re: Planet Bob

FUN! You want Bob to have 1 standard earth gravity at the surface just based on mass and normal physics? Then the entire structure has as much mass as 1600 of our suns. That value is true whether the structure is solid or whether it is a giant hollow shell. The gravity on earth varies part to part....

Re: Planet Bob

I had thought, depths of beyond 2 km would strike the surface of the dyson sphere proper.... yes, some mountains I had thought of as breaching the atmosphere. Above 40o latitude either north or south is going to be beyond human tolerance cold. Hadn't thought of a too hot for human tolerance band ......

Re: Planet Bob

Ok So avoiding the need or desire for calculus circumference 942477796.07 km divided by 360 giving me 2,617,993.88 km per degree 104,719,755 to the freeze to death in minutes region from the equator So doing the math, the approx sq cm of surface area of liveable space is in the quadrillions of squar...

Re: Planet Bob

actualy my first challenge i mathematical.I was thinking, The north south, when you go say 40o from the equator the polar region where the chances of survival without more modern cold protection is impossible. (magical protection not withstanding.) I just need to do the math on how far that is aroun...

Re: Planet Bob

I'm curious about the distribution of lands and seas on the surface. You have the room for massive interconnected collections of continents separated by unimaginable stretches of ocean. Like Ringworld, travel across these oceans would be the analogue of space travel. Imagine multi-generational ark-...

Re: Planet Bob

As for the outside, I figure an AD&D setting world - of EPIC proportions. i was going to start my construction with the Council of Wyrms setting, but the map is going to have to be expanded to fit my planet. Space-ships cannot make a 2 way trip to the surface from the outside. And the Kwa on the...

I submitted the idea to a guy on a Google + group, and he rendered an image of Bob - and is using the idea in his own setting, so came up with some story around it will lnk here...
