I like this idea but I feel like you should be characterizing him as a stray great-uncle, or maybe just an Uncle, rather than a Step-Dad, which implies that he married your mom later in life and stuff. I don't know, step-dad is weird. Uncle, however, great-uncle? How do we even know that's not what he is.
