Re: NPR Fitness Group

my daily schedule and lifeplan is FUCKED with little hope of a solution; I'm too exhausted to get the exercise I should be getting, but if I would prefer not to die or look permanently sort of pregnant, I should probably prioritize the exercise over other things. Not sure how that can work. sigh. D...

Re: Trump

I see that the President-Elect is now on Twitter very upset about the election recount in Wisconsin. There is no way that this one state flipping could alter his victory so I'm not really sure what the problem is, unless he's concerned it could lead to other states being recounted (they're running ...

Re: The Moral Machine

I found it rather contrived and off. Who is going to look at the type of people in the way or calculate the number of people in the car vs how many are going to get hit. AIs are not going to be able to do that either as object recognition isn't that good. My rules, in order, were hit a barrier inste...

I've heard smoking can cause people to lose weight.

many diet pills also contain caffeine, so don't skimp on the coffee.

You are also likely putting on a bit of muscle, which is goo long term for both weight loss and injury avoidance.

Re: Trump

It helps that his spices are the best you can get anywhere, and this was true long before I knew the owner was such a badass winner at life. Off topic but as long as you brought it up, I used to think that paprika was a nearly tasteless spice used mostly for color. Penzeys made me realize that it's...

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Re: Trump

Phoebe, I sympathize but I'm not sure if it's going to work here. Personally, I'm sick of so many evangelicals who continually prove that they're Christian In Name Only. Many of them are Reagan Democrats, who were mainly people who switched parties after the civil rights movement for racist reasons.

Re: Stranded... On Planet Seven!

It sounded intriguing before. Now, it sounds totally awesome. The strong theme will make the goals and rules easier to grasp.

I believe all art made before 1923 and stuff from authors who died prior to 1946 should be public domain, which should cover quite a bit of early planetary romance.

I am on the verge of tears, I want chocolate to make me feel better. Eating chocolate will trigger guilt, making me cry. Have you tried really dark chocolate? >70% chocolate. Re: Deportations

Obama had already stepped deportations to a level that the undocumented population was declining. Plus, Republicans in congress are mixed on immigration. Though all of them say tough things to get votes, many of them realize that businesses rely on undocumented immigrants to keep wages low. Trump wi...

Re: Cheap and Easy Space Games

I always thought ROM looked cool as a kid but never got it as I had a very limited comics budget. X-plorers is kinda like OD&D for space. You have ability scores, 4 skills determined by class, and equipment. It's workable but (at least the free core rules I have) doesn't provide a ton of ideas s...

I still don't entirely respect him much but he seems so left wing compared to the current gop. This is the guy who said "Ours is a war not against a religion, not against the Muslim faith." and "Islam, as practiced by the vast majority of people, is a peaceful religion, a religion tha...

Stan, I'm pretty low on the totem pole, and I'm very worried about losing our funding (NIH grant) and thus my job. :( Sorry, I hesitated to bring it up because I was afraid of being insensitive to you. People can't treat this as just a game with no consequences. Another likely thing is that Planned...

Re: I'm feeling less positive

Kyle, I largely agree, but there could be serious impacts. I think Pence will look for a chance to end same sex marriage rights. Large sections of the gop are anti-science. They might severely cut research funds, which would impact my job - I'm near the top of the ladder so I'm not likely to go but ...
