Nancy Pelosi video

Some people think Facebook should take down / prevent sharing of that Nancy Pelosi video where they slowed down her speech, but Facebook and its defenders rightly point out that it's very difficult to suppress such things without opening the door to suppression of a whole lot of content that should remain, and it's hard to draw a sharp line between satire and making a doctored video with the hope of fooling people into thinking it's real. Images and video like this appear all the time for commercial purposes, right? Except that fb takes down all sorts of things with political or other content they don't happen to like, from Paleo diet groups to breastfeeding moms, and is hardly so vigorous at taking down other deeply offensive things. So... they just wield their tool in whatever way they darn well please, so arguments about this way or that way seem totally pointless except as tools of their own to try to influence something arbitrarily. Twitter is no different; they just have a slightly different sphere of things they consider bannable and things they're willing to accept.
